Why Leyuru
Fulfulde is the language of the Fulani people, an ethnic group spread throughout many countries of the Sub-Saharan Africa. Traditionally, they lived mostly a pastoralist and semi-nomadic lifestyle.
The moon was for the Fulani a major reference point, used to set trajectories for livestock’s transhumance and seasonal arrangements for the communities. The main word defining the moon in Fulfulde is Leyuru. As the moon has been a crucial reference throughout the Sahel, Leyuru wants today to be pivotal in linking African expertise to the international world.
